About the company
Vacation® is a Miami-based sunscreen brand launched in the summer of 2021 with a mission to make sunscreen enjoyable. The company has quickly built a strong reputation with shoppers, beauty tastemakers, media, retailers, and dermatologists through its playful brand universe and products designed to make leisure feel better. Its products are sold through major retail partners such as Ulta Beauty, Nordstrom, and Target, in addition to the company’s own website.
Role overview
Vacation® is hiring a Vice President of Operations to oversee inventory planning, procurement, supply chain logistics, fulfillment, and customer service across retail, DTC, and Amazon. This is a senior leadership role for someone who can think strategically while also staying close to execution. The position calls for building and improving the infrastructure required to support the next stage of company growth.
Reporting to the General Manager, this leader will run the Operations department on a daily basis, with responsibility for operational excellence, scalable systems, and disciplined cost control. The role also includes developing a strong team and partnering closely with Product Development, Sales, Finance, and Marketing to keep inventory, demand, and business goals aligned.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operations function, covering inventory planning, supply planning, purchasing, logistics, warehousing through 3PL partners, and fulfillment for retail, DTC, and Amazon.
- Create and implement an operations strategy that can scale with the business and translate company goals into practical systems, processes, and capabilities.
- Manage inventory from end to end, improving service levels and working capital through forecasting, production planning, and coordination with Sales, Growth, and Finance.
- Run the S&OP process and maintain consistent monthly planning, alignment, and communication across stakeholders.
- Manage the logistics and fulfillment network, including inbound and outbound transport by small parcel, LTL, FTL, and international freight, along with 3PL relationships, to maintain strong service, cost control, and SLA performance.
- Handle vendor and partner management for manufacturers, freight providers, and 3PLs, including sourcing, negotiation, and continuous performance improvement.
- Develop and scale operational SOPs, processes, and systems to improve accuracy and efficiency, including oversight of ERP platforms such as Cin7 and future system rollouts.
- Define operational KPIs, build reporting and analysis, and use performance insights such as inbound accuracy and on-time in-full metrics to drive improvement.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and health, including inventory on hand, slow-moving and obsolete stock, and revenue recovery through retail compliance and chargeback management.
- Work with Finance and Accounting to improve the order-to-cash process, strengthening service levels, cash flow, and customer experience.
- Ensure the business is ready to onboard new retail partners, including EDI setup, testing, shipping, and compliance requirements.
- Own the operations budget and manage logistics, fulfillment, and inventory-related costs while holding performance against targets.
- Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews as the owner of supply chain and operational performance, including responsibility for Operations within the Annual Operating Plan.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing operations team with clear goals, accountability, and career development paths.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a similar field.
- At least 10 years of experience in supply chain or operations at a consumer packaged goods company, ideally in a fast-growing mass retail setting.
- 5 or more years of leadership experience, including team management and scale-up responsibility.
- Strong background in CPG operations, especially demand planning and forecasting.
- In-depth experience with 3PL management, retail compliance, and operational process design.
- Hands-on experience with EDI integrations across specialty, mass, and drug retail channels.
- Excellent analytical and reporting abilities, with a history of using data to guide decisions.
- Comfort using warehouse management systems, preferably Bluebox, ERP systems such as CIN7, and logistics tools; NetSuite is considered an advantage.
- Solid understanding of domestic and international logistics, including import and export processes.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, and execution-driven.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term planning and near-term delivery.
- Clear, assertive communicator with strong project management capability.
- Genuinely interested in helping grow Vacation® into a widely recognized brand.
- Must use sunscreen.
Compensation & benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with up to 100% employer coverage for employees.
- 401(k) plan with company matching.
- Work-from-home stipend and an annual learning stipend.
- 15 days of paid time off.
