Role Overview
BitGo is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Trade team in Toronto. This position is fully onsite and requires someone who can contribute to high-impact projects with minimal supervision while helping develop dependable systems for financial and digital asset services.
What You Will Do
- Develop resilient APIs, libraries, and backend services that support clearing and settlement, digital asset lending, trading, and liquidity.
- Take ownership of features end to end, from initial design through delivery and customer integration, with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- Publish and maintain documentation for user interfaces, external developers, and internal as well as external tools.
- Work closely with engineering peers and product managers to align on technical needs and maintain strong work quality.
- Support team growth through code reviews, mentoring, and sharing best practices across the engineering organization.
Skills and Experience Needed
The ideal candidate values clear communication, transparency, ownership, craftsmanship, and the mission of bringing trust to digital assets.
- Hands-on experience with server-side programming languages such as Golang, TypeScript/Node.js, Java, Python, or similar.
- Background in building or maintaining financial accounting systems, including general ledger and bookkeeping workflows.
- Experience working with SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design.
- Comfortable with unit testing, functional testing, and debugging.
- Practical knowledge of Git/GitHub workflows, branching strategies, code review tools, and CI systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or another technical field from a top university.
- Genuine interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
- Strong ability in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred Background
- At least 3 years of experience in back-end or server-side software development.
- Exposure to microservices and service-oriented architecture.
- Experience with large-scale, real-time, or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes.
- Experience working in the financial services industry.
- Exposure to digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, trading, accounting systems, or similar domains.

Compensation
The expected base salary for this role is approximately CAD 180,000 to CAD 200,000 per year, depending on leveling and location. The package also includes equity and an annual performance bonus.
Work Arrangement
This is a full-time onsite role based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
