Role overview

Jar is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test - 1 for its Bengaluru team. In this role, you will support product quality by validating applications before release, carrying out manual testing across platforms, and working with cross-functional teams to surface, prioritise, and resolve defects.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out manual verification of mobile apps and APIs to maintain product quality.
• Create, update, and run test cases based on functional and business expectations.
• Record defects in Jira or similar systems and compare expected outcomes with actual behaviour.
• Take part in daily stand-ups and sprint rituals to share QA progress and highlight risks early.
• Contribute throughout the full software testing life cycle.
• Work closely with engineers, product designers, and product managers to improve feature quality and user experience.
• Run smoke, regression, and exploratory tests across devices and platforms.
• Support root-cause analysis and prepare clear defect reports.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of practical experience in manual testing for APIs and mobile applications.
• Working knowledge of STLC, Java, and basic SDET principles.
• Familiarity with tools such as Postman, Charles Proxy, or Proxyman.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and a structured approach to solving problems.
• Ability to write test plans and test cases from the ground up.
• Basic experience with SQL or MongoDB queries.
• Exposure to bug-tracking tools such as Jira.
• Self-driven, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a high-speed environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
