Power BI Developer

Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Power BI Developer who can build, improve, and support enterprise-grade business intelligence and reporting solutions. The position calls for solid hands-on expertise in Power BI, SQL, data visualization, automated reporting, and Python scripting, along with the ability to convert complex business needs into clear, interactive dashboards and practical insights.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and technical teams to deliver scalable reporting solutions while maintaining strong standards for data accuracy, governance, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support interactive dashboards, scorecards, and reports in Power BI.
• Design efficient data models aligned with Power BI best practices.
• Build DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPI logic for reporting.
• Create and refine data transformations using Power Query (M Language).
• Pull, clean, transform, and analyze data from SQL databases and other enterprise sources.
• Set up automated reporting workflows and scheduled refreshes.
• Carry out validation, cleansing, and quality checks to keep reports accurate.
• Create advanced Excel-based solutions using Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, formulas, and macros.
• Automate reporting and business workflows through Microsoft Power Automate.
• Connect Power BI to REST APIs and other external data sources.
• Write Python scripts for data handling, automation, and advanced analytics when needed.
• Maintain source code in Git repositories and Azure DevOps.
• Work with business users to understand reporting needs and turn them into technical deliverables.
• Investigate performance bottlenecks and improve dataset and query efficiency.
• Document dashboards, reports, and data models clearly and consistently.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement efforts and recommend BI best practices.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Prior experience working as a Power BI Developer or Business Intelligence Developer.
• Strong, practical experience in building enterprise-level Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Deep familiarity with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query (M Language), and data modeling.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, macros, and complex formulas.
• Strong SQL knowledge for relational database querying, joins, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience with report automation and scheduled data refresh processes.
• Experience ensuring data quality and performing validation checks.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
• Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate (PL-200), and Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400).
• Additional preferred exposure includes Agile/Scrum environments, data governance practices, cloud and enterprise application integrations, and strong collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Skills

The role requires capability in Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, advanced Excel analytics and transformation, SQL and relational databases, Azure DevOps, Git version control, Microsoft 365 tools such as SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive, Python scripting, REST API integration, data visualization principles, and business intelligence reporting solutions.
