New Product Development Engineer

About the Role

This position is for a Product Development Manager / NPD professional based in Pillaipakkam, Sriperumbudur. The business works on the manufacturing and assembly of door closers, floor springs, locks, hinges, and related accessories. The ideal candidate should understand product development as well as manufacturing and process flow, and should be energetic, adaptable, and ready to take on fresh responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive both short-term and long-term product development initiatives from planning through testing and launch.
• Balance customer expectations and business priorities across all phases of product development, including concept, design, implementation, and validation.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for different components and materials.
• Coordinate work across cost, timelines, production methods, and staffing requirements.
• Support the design, manufacturing, and installation of components and related assemblies.
• Study technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement practical solutions.
• Work with suppliers and developers to ensure projects are completed successfully.
• Assess shortlisted vendors, conduct quality inspections, and maintain checks on standards.
• Assist the production team in setting up appropriate assembly and packaging lines.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, and production teams to keep new product designs aligned across functions.
• Track industry developments and new technologies for future product improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and training to team members and stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards and regulations during product development.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for milestones and project deliverables.

Requirements

• Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong command of English and effective communication skills.
• Good understanding of materials, casting, forging, stamping, and assembly processes.
• Working knowledge of machining, tooling, fixtures, and CNC machine requirements.
• AutoCAD and 3D modelling knowledge will be an added advantage.
• Experience with MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
• Comfortable working with cross-functional and technology teams to deliver results.
• Capable of performing in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and focus.
• Solid understanding of functional elements and business rules related to assigned products.

Additional Information

Location: Pillaipakkam, Sriperumbudur, India

Compensation: INR 4,00,000 to 9,00,000 per year
