Role overview
This full-time in-store merchandising position supports a locally owned branch that focuses on health, beauty, and convenience services for the surrounding community. The role is centered on keeping the customer experience at the heart of daily store operations.
Merchandising responsibilities
- Arrange stock in the backroom and follow backroom inventory management procedures.
- Use PDT and MMS systems to complete day-to-day tasks.
- Carry out exit strategy and product return activities when assigned.
- Build expertise in the assigned product categories, including inventory control, shelf placement, and expiry monitoring.
- Maintain store presentation standards and keep displays aligned with current in-store image and trends.
- Make sure product displays are customer-friendly and easy to shop.
Receiving duties
- Accept incoming merchandise according to the store’s receiving policies and procedures.
- Keep the backroom tidy and well ordered using backroom organization principles.
- Complete the necessary records and paperwork for received and returned goods.
- Support the Front Store Manager and Assistant Front Store Manager in preserving store quality and operational standards.
Customer service expectations
- Present a clean and professional appearance in line with uniform and dress code requirements.
- Take the initiative to greet customers and offer help in the aisles.
General accountabilities
- Follow all health and safety rules.
- Adhere to store-wide standards at all times.
- Observe loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Handle any other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications and experience
The role calls for sound judgment, good planning skills, and strong decision-making ability. Candidates should work efficiently, stay organized and neat, and adapt well to changing conditions on the sales floor. Where cash handling is part of the job, accuracy and speed in processing customer orders are essential. Prior experience with computers and cash registers is helpful, along with solid record-keeping skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a self-driven approach.
