Role overview

Baptist Medical Group (BMG) is seeking a Director of Facilities & Logistics to lead the planning, operation, and improvement of facilities, construction, capital programs, and logistics across the organization. This leadership position supports a non-profit healthcare environment where safe, compliant, and well-run buildings are essential to patient care and daily clinical work.

The role partners with executive leaders, clinical teams, and outside vendors to ensure that medical office buildings, clinics, and support spaces are maintained and upgraded in a way that supports safety, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and responsible stewardship of resources. The position reports to the Executive Director of Shared Services.

Strategic leadership

• Set direction and oversee all facilities and logistics activities for BMG’s ambulatory and administrative settings.
• Make sure facilities planning and capital initiatives support the organization’s mission, patient care goals, and growth plans.
• Advise the Executive Director of Shared Services on long-term facilities needs, risks, and opportunities.
• Lead, coach, and develop staff involved in facilities, construction, and project management.

Capital planning and budget oversight

• Build and manage multi-year capital expenditure plans based on building condition, clinical requirements, and organizational priorities.
• Prepare, track, and control capital and operating budgets with careful use of non-profit funds.
• Review and approve project budgets, capital requests, and change orders.
• Compare completed project costs with approved budgets and share clear updates with executive leadership.

Construction and project delivery

• Oversee renovation and construction work from start to finish, including tenant improvements, common area upgrades, and major system replacements.
• Define project scope, assess feasibility, build schedules, and coordinate with clinical and operational partners.
• Handle design development, bidding, contractor evaluation, and construction administration.
• Ensure projects follow approved drawings, building standards, and healthcare operational needs.
• Drive proper closeout, recordkeeping, and post-project review.

Facilities operations and building systems

• Direct oversight of core building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, security, fire alarms, emergency systems, roofing, and building automation.
• Confirm that new systems integrate well with existing infrastructure and do not interrupt clinical operations.
• Assess facility requirements, including sub-metering and energy-efficiency opportunities.
• Oversee the work order management process so preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs are completed according to manufacturer guidance and healthcare best practices.

Vendors and contracts

• Manage relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and other third-party service providers.
• Request, evaluate, and approve proposals for facilities services and construction work.
• Negotiate, execute, and administer service agreements and construction contracts.
• Monitor vendor performance against contract terms, safety expectations, and service levels.

Compliance, safety, and risk

• Ensure adherence to Life Safety, ADA, City, State, and Federal requirements, along with Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation standards.
• Support readiness for healthcare inspections and accreditation by maintaining facilities that meet safety and operational standards.
• Review and interpret lease agreements, ground leases, powers of attorney, and related financial or legal documents.
• Identify facilities-related risks and take steps to reduce exposure for patients, staff, visitors, and organizational assets.

Reporting and collaboration

• Provide regular executive-level reporting on project schedules, capital spend, risk items, and facilities performance.
• Work closely with clinical, operational, IT, and finance teams to ensure facilities support patient care delivery.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. The role also calls for 8–10 years of progressive experience in facilities management, construction management, or capital project leadership. Experience leading in healthcare, non-profit, or other highly regulated environments is preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and working style

The ideal candidate will bring strong understanding of healthcare facilities, commercial building systems, and construction methods. Experience managing complex capital projects and large budgets is important, as is the ability to interpret architectural drawings, contracts, leases, and financial documents. The role also requires strong negotiation, contract management, and cost-control capability, along with excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Integrity, accountability, and a strong service mindset are essential.

Working conditions

This is primarily an office-based role with regular site visits to clinics, medical office buildings, and construction locations. Occasional travel between BMG sites is required.
