Role Overview
The Development Associate will support team leaders in delivering real estate development projects from early-stage planning through completion. The role covers a wide range of responsibilities across the development lifecycle, including market analysis, land acquisition, due diligence, entitlements, financing, and project coordination. It is designed to provide broad exposure to the full development process and hands-on experience with best practices in real estate execution.
Responsibilities
- Prepare underwriting models and financial analyses for potential projects.
- Conduct market research to identify attractive investment areas.
- Draft and distribute investment and development memorandums.
- Develop broker relationships across different markets and help generate deal flow.
- Analyze market data such as rental trends, rent rolls, demographics, and tenant profiles.
- Support land acquisition diligence, monitor transaction progress, and assist with project execution.
- Take part in entitlement-related activities and coordination.
- Track local economic conditions and prepare research materials.
- Contribute to business development efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, preferably with exposure to real estate.
- Strong analytical and writing ability, with the capacity to communicate complex financial concepts clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and genuinely interested in the development process.
- Comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
- Able to work independently while also following guidance from experienced professionals.
- Dependable and respectful of confidentiality and non-disclosure obligations.
- Strong command of Word and Excel; familiarity with Argus is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.
