Cyber Security Analyst

Role Overview

Sunbird Software is looking for a cybersecurity professional who is meticulous, proactive, and comfortable working across IT teams to strengthen the protection of systems, data, and networks. In this position, you will help maintain a secure and dependable technology environment by deploying security controls, reviewing risks, supporting compliance efforts, and responding to threats and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer detailed security questionnaires from customers during the software onboarding process, explaining the company’s security practices, controls, and technologies.
• Deploy, support, and improve cybersecurity tools and related infrastructure.
• Carry out routine audits and vulnerability reviews to uncover security gaps in systems and networks.
• Create and enforce security policies and procedures that help defend against cyberattacks, breaches, and other risks.
• Keep accurate records of security procedures, system settings, and incident activity.
• Investigate security events, coordinate response actions, and document remediation steps and reports.
• Help ensure adherence to cybersecurity policies, applicable regulations, and recognized best practices, including GDPR and HIPAA.
• Work with IT colleagues on encryption, backup, and data protection measures.
• Support security awareness efforts by helping train employees on safe practices.
• Oversee access control and authentication processes so that sensitive information is available only to approved users.
• Track evolving cybersecurity threats, tools, and trends to keep defenses current.
• Lead weekly security team meetings and follow up on assigned actions with internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing activities.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Previous experience working as a Cybersecurity Analyst or in a similar security-related role.
• Working knowledge of security platforms such as antivirus tools and SIEM systems, along with network monitoring and encryption technologies.
• Exposure to cloud security and protection of services hosted on platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/S.
• Understanding of privacy requirements and compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Clear communication skills and strong interpersonal effectiveness.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with security automation or scripting.
• Familiarity with risk frameworks such as NIST and FAIR.
• Practical understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, encryption, and endpoint protection.
• Hands-on work with vulnerability scanning, incident response, and risk management processes.
• Exposure to established cybersecurity standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or similar credentials are preferred.
• Direct experience using SIEM tools.
