Clearance Agent (Riyadh)

Role overview

This position is part of DHL Express, a global express delivery network operating in more than 220 countries and territories. The role focuses on supporting smooth customs processes and ensuring that shipments move through the gateway efficiently, with quality service and strong customer focus.

Key responsibilities

• Manage customs clearance for inbound goods and make sure cargo is cleared through the gateway without unnecessary delay.
• Prepare export customs declarations.
• Keep customer records and related databases accurate and up to date.
• Handle specific customer disputes and guide clients on technical customs matters when needed.
• Stay well informed on customs rules, processes, and standard practices.
• Track and manage the inventory of shipments that are on hold.
• Stay in regular contact with customers regarding delayed or held shipments.
• Help consignees clear sensitive or restricted shipments.
• Support the supervisor in day-to-day tasks using practical experience and functional knowledge.
• Work with customs authorities on duty payments and shipment-related issues.
• Follow all regulatory requirements, policies, and internal procedures.

Candidate profile

The role suits someone in an intermediate service, production, or support position who is expected to handle most standard tasks within the function. A working understanding of a technical or specialist area is important, along with the ability to quickly absorb and apply new concepts.

Communication and technical skills

• Strong written and spoken communication abilities.
• Good analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge, including at least intermediate-level formula use.
• Fluency in English is required, and Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to think critically and pay close attention to detail.
• Comfortable contributing as part of a team while also working independently.
• Well-developed organizational skills.

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed at least 18 months in their current role, or have prior approval from their line manager to apply.
