Role overview
Dyno Nobel is seeking a Blaster to plan, prepare, and carry out controlled explosive blasts safely and accurately at customer sites served by Dyno Nobel North America. This role ensures all blasting activities are completed in line with customer needs, company standards, and regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities
In this position, you will oversee blast execution, guide the blast crew, and support training for blaster trainees. You will also work closely with internal teams and external customers to deliver reliable blasting outcomes and improve service value.
- Plan the correct explosive use for customer requirements and site conditions.
- Follow company procedures, technical modules, surface blasting SOPs, and all relevant safety and regulatory rules.
- Use solid knowledge of Dyno Nobel products, explosives handling, and mining industry practices.
- Prepare blasting records, inventory logs, and other required documentation.
- Review customer complaints and underperforming blasts, then escalate findings to the appropriate plants, regional leadership, and the Senior Technical Resource Manager.
- Assist DynoConsult in building strong capability in value-in-use solutions, including electronic detonators, gassing, and blasting technology.
- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to support business goals and customer value.
- Respond promptly and professionally to operational issues and business requests.
- Help improve service standards and customer profitability over time.
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- A valid provincial blaster license is required, or the ability to obtain one based on relevant work experience.
- At least 2 years of related experience in the explosives industry is needed.
- Supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Strong command of English, both spoken and written, is required.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.
- Professional conduct with leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution, and team motivation skills.
- Sound judgment to identify safe and unsafe conditions.
- Ability to maintain accurate written records and solve blasting and logistical issues.
- Capacity to manage stress, balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and make decisive decisions.
