What you will do

• Review and examine a range of accounting platforms and financial systems.
• Sort, analyze, and present large sets of information such as bank statements, financial files, healthcare claims, tax records, correspondence, policies, and other evidence using standard software tools.
• Help plan investigations by carrying out both quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify likely witnesses and key financial records.
• Draft clear, concise, and accurate analysis reports, including charts, schedules, and summaries when needed.
• Support conferences and interviews with representatives from financial institutions, CPAs, and other possible witnesses connected to financial activity.
• Use electronic databases to locate assets, documents, and other physical evidence.
• Assess whether an individual or business can pay monetary penalties by reviewing financial disclosures and independently investigating assets and liabilities.
• Provide additional investigation support as needed on assigned cases.
• Create, coordinate, and issue draft technical audit instructions and guidelines for financial audits and investigations.
• Prepare interim and final reports throughout the investigation for use by other staff members.
• Organize secure storage, preservation, indexing, and tracking of large volumes of documentary evidence.
• Help compile and review documents and physical evidence, and produce charts, graphs, and audio-visual materials for motions and trial use.
• Meet with designated federal agency staff and, when necessary, state and local officials during investigations.
• Carry out other duties within the scope of the assignment.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in statistical analysis, data analysis, finance, accounting, fraud examination, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, fraud examination, or statistical/data analysis.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass the required background adjudication process.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the services described for the role.
• Preferred: experience reviewing medical records and understanding medical billing procedures.
• Preferred: familiarity with STARS and/or Business Objects.
• Preferred: prior experience with a federal or state legal or law enforcement organization.
