Accountant

Overview

An experienced Accountant is needed to handle daily accounting activities, produce financial reports, and help ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The position suits someone who is highly organized, detail-focused, and able to juggle several priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting.

Compensation

Annual salary: $70,000 to $75,000.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers accurate and up to date.
• Record journal entries and complete account reconciliations.
• Oversee job cost records, including estimates, transaction entries, and related reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements along with backup schedules.
• Track inventory records, including charge-outs and salvage documentation.
• Produce financial reports covering sales, energy, construction, and transportation activities.
• Maintain transportation documentation such as licensing, mileage, and vehicle usage records.
• Handle state and local tax filings, including payroll, sales, and property tax returns.
• Maintain payroll records, process timesheets, and run payroll.
• Prepare quarterly and yearly federal and state payroll filings.
• Step in to support other accounting tasks when required.
• Assist with audits and help maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required.
• At least 5 years of experience working with general ledger accounting is needed.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation is essential.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.
• Prior exposure to accounting software is expected; NISC experience is considered an advantage.
• Understanding of payroll, tax laws, and employee compliance requirements is necessary.
• A CPA credential is preferred.
