UTM Technician

About the Role

Fair Waves Marine Services LLC is looking for a skilled and committed UTM Technician to support its marine inspection operations in Dubai. The role focuses on ultrasonic thickness gauging, inspection reporting, repair planning, and coordination with classification societies and external inspectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out ultrasonic thickness gauging inspections on vessels and marine installations.
• Compile UTG inspection reports, steel thickness calculations, and repair recommendations.
• Liaise with classification societies and third-party surveyors, including ABS, DNV, LR, BV, IRS, RINA, KR, NKK, and similar bodies.
• Lead and assist UTG technicians during site inspection work.
• Perform thermographic checks on electrical panels and motors.
• Maintain adherence to safety requirements and internal work procedures.
• Assist with rope access activities whenever needed.

Requirements

• At least 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in UTG and marine inspection.
• ASNT Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing is preferred.
• Prior exposure to working with classification societies is required.
• Working knowledge of repair planning and steel renewal calculations.
• IRATA Rope Access certification at Level I or II is an added advantage.
• Basic proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
