The company focuses on over-the-road and intermodal freight movement, warehousing, and distribution, supporting customers across the region through a long-established network of offices and terminals. The work involves assisting logistics operations for the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Role Summary
The position is centered on brokerage and freight coordination. The selected candidate will connect shippers with carriers, support transportation bookings, and help line up carriers for loading. The job also includes sales-oriented work to win new business, strengthen customer relationships, and support ongoing operational efficiency. A solid understanding of logistics processes, logistics software, and customer service is important, along with strong analytical ability and the confidence to manage pressure.
Key Responsibilities
The specialist will manage freight movements in line with company rules and relevant government requirements, coordinate pickup and delivery schedules, and work closely with shippers, carriers, and dispatchers to keep operations on track. The role includes negotiating spot rates for LTL and truckload freight, tracking shipments, sharing updates with customers, and handling several deliveries at the same time. The person in this role will also process spot requests, build sales approaches to grow business, prepare competitive shipping quotes, maintain strong relationships with customers and carrier partners, and resolve queries in a professional manner. Additional responsibilities include identifying suitable carriers, negotiating contracts and pricing, offering discounts and promotions where appropriate, keeping freight documentation complete and approved before movement, maintaining freight records and customer receipts, and protecting margin targets set by management.
Requirements and Skills
Applicants should bring prior experience in brokerage or a similar logistics role, along with a strong understanding of logistics procedures and regulations. The job calls for resilience, flexibility, self-motivation, a customer-first mindset, and a willingness to keep learning. Strong organizational and time-management ability is required, as well as advanced negotiation skills, sales-closing ability, and relationship management capability. Candidates should also be comfortable working under pressure, be detail-oriented, and deliver excellent customer service. Familiarity with transportation management systems, GPS tracking, and log book maintenance is expected, along with knowledge of the North American over-the-road freight market, including LTL, truckload, flatbed, dry van, temperature-controlled freight, and intermodal operations. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience is preferred.
