Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position is based in Kampala. The selected truck driver will be responsible for moving goods and materials between assigned destinations safely and efficiently. The job includes vehicle checks before and after trips, following planned routes and timetables, overseeing the loading and unloading of cargo, and keeping delivery records accurate and complete.
The role also requires strict observance of company procedures, traffic laws, and transport rules. The driver must stay in contact with dispatch, report vehicle or route-related concerns quickly, keep the truck clean and well maintained, and maintain a professional and courteous manner with both internal teams and external contacts.
Key Requirements
- A valid CE heavy vehicle driving licence is required, along with solid truck-driving experience.
- Capability to handle truck operations, including routine vehicle checks, safe vehicle handling, and adherence to route instructions.
- Experience in unloading procedures, secure handling of cargo, and use of basic loading tools is needed.
- Good knowledge of local transport and safety regulations, with a clear commitment to compliance.
- A clean driving record and a strong safety-first mindset are essential.
- Ability to read and follow delivery instructions, logs, and basic transport paperwork.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers.
- Physical fitness to manage long-distance driving and supervise loading/unloading tasks, including safe lifting and weight balancing.
- Prior exposure to logistics, transport, or delivery work is an added advantage.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends when needed.
