Role overview
AO is looking for a Transport Returns Operative to support the transport and warehouse workflow at its Stoke site. This position is central to keeping vehicle compliance on track, helping the depot run smoothly at the end of each driver shift, and assisting with day-to-day operational tasks.
What the role involves
- Speaking with drivers at the end of their routes and checking vehicles that come back into the depot for compliance and safety.
- Identifying and escalating any damage, faults, or safety issues without delay.
- Keeping clear communication with drivers about their daily routes and any operational matters that arise.
- Helping with loading and unloading vehicles when required.
- Handling returns paperwork and completing associated administrative duties.
- Updating depot performance figures and supporting daily reporting activities.
What you should bring
- Some knowledge of transport rules and logistics processes would be an advantage.
- The ability to act quickly and stay effective when operational problems come up.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable using Microsoft tools, especially Excel.
- A professional and constructive approach when raising vehicle-related concerns with drivers.
Working pattern and pay
This is a full-time, permanent contract based onsite in Stoke, England, United Kingdom. The salary is £26,769.47 per annum. The role follows a 40.25-hour working week on a 4 on, 4 off rota, with shifts running from 6:00am to 6:00pm.
