Role Overview
The Training Specialist will support new hires as they build the knowledge and practical skills needed to perform successfully in their roles. This person will also run refresher and upskilling sessions for current employees, develop learning content using adult-learning principles, and adapt training materials based on learner feedback and business changes. The role works closely with colleagues across departments and contributes to building out the Learning and Development function.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise training content for new initiatives and for updates to existing learning materials, including instructor-led sessions, eLearning modules, job aids, activities, and desk references.
- Facilitate onboarding and skills-based training for new hires, including computer and software/platform usage, orientation classes, and refresher or upgrade sessions.
- Deliver required compliance training before new employees begin supporting assigned programs.
- Track learner progress to assess training effectiveness and determine whether trainees are ready to perform their duties independently.
- Record training concerns for all participants and review findings with Program Leadership and Aston Carter, when relevant.
- Coordinate with Program Leadership to stay current on changes to policies, procedures, regulations, and technology.
- Keep the Confluence Wiki current, accurate, grammatically polished, and easy to use.
- Foster a constructive learning atmosphere in every training setting.
- Meet deadlines tied to corporate policies and procedures related to handling confidential information.
- Ensure consistent adherence to all SOPs.
- Handle additional tasks or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- A college degree in Communication, Education, or a related field, or comparable training experience.
- Background in creating training materials and delivering corporate training sessions.
- Experience organizing and facilitating meetings with important stakeholders.
- Strong people skills and the ability to build effective working relationships quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others toward success.
Preferred Background
- A degree in a relevant specialty such as Instructional Design, Organizational Psychology, Adult Education, or a similar discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and at least 1 year of training experience.
