Role overview
Balfour Beatty Living Places is hiring a Traffic Management Operative for its Lincolnshire team. This position suits someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work and wants to contribute to the safety and day-to-day running of the local highway network.
You will work within a highways team delivering temporary traffic management and highway maintenance support across Lincolnshire. The role involves helping works run safely and smoothly by setting up, maintaining and taking down traffic management arrangements, while also assisting with highway maintenance and winter service activities.
This is a varied field-based role that gives you the chance to work in different locations, support essential public infrastructure and grow your experience with a major infrastructure organisation.
Key duties
- Set up, look after and dismantle temporary traffic management arrangements across the road network.
- Create and manage diversion routes for maintenance and improvement works.
- Support highway maintenance tasks such as repairs, upgrades and winter service operations.
- Work in a manner that protects health, safety and the environment at all times.
- Keep vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment in good working order.
- Help with site paperwork, vehicle logs and compliance records.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, colleagues and other teams to deliver work efficiently.
- Communicate professionally with contractors, clients, emergency services and the public.
- Enter and update job details accurately in company systems.
- Share knowledge and good practice to help develop other team members.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will be dependable, self-motivated and a strong team player with a positive outlook. You should be comfortable with practical outdoor work, able to keep up in a busy environment and committed to delivering safe, high-quality results.
Essential requirements
- NHSS 12D M1/M2/M5 qualification.
- CPC qualification, where needed for holders of 7.5T vehicles and above.
- A strong focus on safe working methods.
- Good communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with members of the public and clients.
- Basic reading, writing, number and IT skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
- Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A willingness to learn and build new skills.
Preferred experience and qualifications
- Background in highways maintenance.
- NVQ 6159 Winter Maintenance.
- LGV Category C (HGV) licence and Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
- SSSTS qualification.
- NHSS 12D M6 qualification.
- CSCS card.
