Role overview
The Technician will support the day-to-day operation, fault diagnosis, housekeeping, and repair work across assigned commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and facility maintenance equipment.
Core duties
- Help identify issues and carry out repairs for building systems and installed equipment, including packaging and handling machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, workshop areas, outdoor equipment, and HVAC systems.
- Service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components by cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining them.
- Support the installation and alteration of building equipment and systems.
- Repair and refresh building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, walls, piping, floors, and equipment surfaces.
- Assess maintenance processes, suggest improvements, and look for cost-saving opportunities.
- Use and care for tools and equipment commonly used in facilities and grounds maintenance.
- Respond quickly to urgent issues and customer service requests.
- Check buildings, grounds, and equipment for safety risks, breakdowns, and preventive maintenance needs.
- Operate and maintain fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms, fire pumps, and related fire protection equipment, as assigned.
- Carry out carpentry work and snow removal when needed.
- Follow all relevant codes, regulations, government requirements, and company procedures related to building operations, and maintain safe working practices.
- Use technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, web-based tools, and building automation systems.
- Complete annual C&W safety training as scheduled.
- Follow the company uniform dress code while on duty and maintain a clean, professional appearance when on the property outside working hours.

Work schedule and conditions
The role may involve being the only maintenance person on site during certain shifts. It can require extended work periods without relief during priority or emergency situations, including overtime-like assignments. Shift work and stand-by/on-call duties may also be needed.
Work environment
This position is based in a professional office setting and regularly involves the use of standard office tools such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical requirements
During the course of work, the employee must be able to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information, operate computers and other office equipment, move around the workplace, remain stationary for about 10% of the time, and reach in any direction with hands and arms.
