Role overview

Aldar Education is looking for a Humanities Teacher to join its expanding school network in Abu Dhabi for the 2026/2027 academic year, beginning in August. The organisation is a major education provider in Abu Dhabi, known for inclusive, forward-thinking learning across a broad range of curricula and school brands that serve learners from nursery through adult education.

From its start in 2007 with one school and 250 students, the group has expanded to support more than 38,000 students across 31 schools, alongside a large and diverse community of educators representing over 100 nationalities. Its work is closely connected to Abu Dhabi’s education goals and the wider vision for a sustainable knowledge economy.

The right candidate will reflect the school’s values, show a strong appreciation of the local culture and region, and be committed to helping students learn in a supportive, stimulating, and inclusive environment. The aim of the role is to engage, inspire, and challenge students through high-quality teaching that supports academic, social, and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons that motivate students and help them achieve strong learning outcomes.
  • Work closely with colleagues to plan effective lessons that align with curriculum expectations.
  • Communicate clearly with pupils, parents, carers, and staff across the school community.
  • Build constructive working relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Coordinate with curriculum support staff where needed to strengthen student progress.
  • Organise classroom resources, provision, and displays to support an engaging learning environment.
  • Plan and teach lessons that meet the needs of learners across the full ability range.
  • Use imaginative and enthusiastic teaching approaches to keep students engaged.
  • Assess and observe students in line with school assessment practices.
  • Reflect on lesson delivery, classroom provision, and student progress, then adapt planning and resources accordingly.
  • Work with specialists such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required.
  • Embed the school’s Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout the curriculum.
  • Take responsibility for class progress and track development using Target Tracker.
  • Use assessment data to shape planning, interventions, and classroom provision.
  • Provide progress feedback to parents and carers during parent-teacher conferences and other meetings.
  • Follow the school’s behaviour policy and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Set high expectations, encourage independence and self-control, and act decisively when required.
  • Serve as a positive role model through consistent attitudes, values, and conduct.
  • Contribute to curriculum action groups, including planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
  • Support school events, trips, outings, and activities, including those held in the evening or on weekends.
  • Use school systems such as CPOMS to share updates on student achievement and well-being with parents and carers.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life, culture, and ethos of the school.
  • Lead one weekly extracurricular activity each term.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject area, along with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • At least 1 to 2 years of teaching experience.
  • Prior experience teaching students for whom English is not the first language.

Skills and attributes

  • Strong subject knowledge and curriculum understanding.
  • Classroom management and behaviour leadership.
  • Lesson planning and differentiation for mixed-ability groups.
  • Student assessment and progress tracking.
  • Effective communication with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborative teamwork and flexibility.
  • Reflective teaching practice and adaptability.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and whole-child development.
  • Professionalism and a child-centred approach.
  • Ability to use school systems and data to guide decisions.

Package and other information

The school offers a competitive remuneration package that includes medical cover, flights, housing, and free school places for children. Staff also benefit from a strong focus on professional development, coaching, training, and access to a broad network of professionals.

Additional expectations include regular participation in extracurricular activities, a clean enhanced DBS or police clearance check, and residence in the same Emirate as the assigned school. This role is aligned with equal opportunity and inclusive hiring principles, and UAE Nationals are encouraged to apply.

The employer is committed to safeguarding children and young people. Appointment is subject to satisfactory references and police clearance. The job description may be updated as required.
