ജോലി വിവരണം
Role overview
Redstone Manufacturing is hiring a remote, US-based Supply Chain Lead to own purchasing and order management for custom metal parts sourced through an overseas supply base in China, Taiwan, and India. The company serves customers in firearms, medical devices, defense, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and the automotive aftermarket. This is a hands-on role in a compact, fast-moving team with colleagues in the US, the Philippines, and China, and it carries genuine ownership from the first day.
Why this position exists
Once an order is secured, there is currently no single person responsible for making sure it arrives on time, matches specifications, and is documented correctly. That responsibility has been landing on the President. This position is meant to take that burden off leadership and become the central point for about 60 open purchase orders at any given time. Suppliers, freight partners, and the operations specialist will rely on you for decisions so work keeps moving without constant escalation.
This is an accountability-heavy role, not a passive coordination role. The team is looking for someone who spots issues that others miss and takes ownership of the fix.
Key ownership areas
You will be responsible for keeping production, shipping, documentation, and verification on track across the full order lifecycle. You will also guide the day-to-day work of the Philippines-based operations specialist and help strengthen the team’s systems and cadence.
- Manage production timelines and shipping dates across every active supplier and purchase order. You will keep POs moving through production, coordinate samples and inspections, and escalate immediately when a date is at risk.
- Own regular supplier communication and follow-up. That includes pushing for committed dates, challenging unsupported price or schedule changes, and raising recurring issues early. The expected style is brief, numbered communication with clear confirmation deadlines.
- Handle logistics and trade paperwork within agreed limits, including air versus sea decisions, consolidation, carrier selection, forwarder bookings, shipping documents, HTS code checks, customs coordination, and invoice reconciliation against quotes.
- Build and maintain a verification discipline for the work you touch. You will compare invoices to orders before anything goes out, spot-check HTS codes proactively, catch mismatches between packing lists, invoices, and POs, and create checks that reduce avoidable errors.
- Direct the daily workflow of the Philippines-based operations specialist on tasks such as POs, invoices, and shipment notices, while actively helping her take on more ownership. You will also coordinate inspection timing with the China-based quality team and run the weekly orders-and-shipments review through to completion of action items.
What this role does not cover
Customer relationships, quotations, and pricing remain with the account owners. New supplier sourcing and RFQ prospecting are handled elsewhere. Engineering and feasibility decisions, including DFM and out-of-spec calls, sit with the engineering lead, who should be brought in for approval when needed. Export screening at the drawing level is completed before an order reaches this role; you will own document and HTS compliance from PO through delivery.
Decision-making boundaries
You will work within written guardrails that let you act quickly without waiting for approval on routine matters. Within those limits, you can make freight choices, approve reasonable supplier schedule or cost adjustments, authorize reshipments, and handle the everyday decisions needed to keep orders moving. If an issue goes beyond the limits, you should bring the President a recommendation rather than just a question.
What success looks like after 90 days
- The President is no longer required in the weekly orders review, or only joins for exceptions.
- Suppliers and the operations specialist begin bringing decisions directly to you instead of escalating upward.
- No invoice is sent to a customer without being checked against the order, and no shipment leaves with HTS codes left unverified.
- You have created at least one verification step or control that was not specifically requested.
Candidate profile
- You bring at least 5 years of experience in purchasing, order management, or supply chain work involving overseas manufacturing, with direct exposure to suppliers in China, Taiwan, or India strongly preferred.
- You have a proven history of holding suppliers to committed dates and pushing back on unjustified price increases, and you can discuss specific examples.
- You can point to situations where you caught expensive mistakes that were outside your formal assignment, such as billing issues, incorrect classifications, or unrealistic schedules.
- You have previously designed at least one verification step, check, or control without being asked to do so.
- You have experience leading a coordinator, assistant, or supplier-facing team with real authority.
- You are comfortable with EXW and DDP terms, HTS classification, freight forwarding, and customs paperwork.
- You write clearly and directly, and you are comfortable using AI tools to improve checks and speed up tracking.
Work schedule and growth
The team works around suppliers in China, Taiwan, and India, so while core hours are based in the United States, the role will occasionally require planned early-morning or evening overlap for supplier communication.
This position is expected to become a foundational part of the operations function as Redstone expands and will eventually report into operations leadership as the team grows.
Application eligibility
This opportunity is limited to candidates located in and performing work in the United States. Candidates based in Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, South Carolina, or West Virginia are not eligible for this role.
Hiring timeline
If your profile looks like a strong match, the hiring team expects to contact you within two weeks to move the process forward. If you do not hear back within that window, you are encouraged to keep an eye out for future openings with the team.
