Role overview
Ford Motor Company is seeking a Supply Chain Analyst to join the N-Tier Risk Sensing CoE in Chennai. This role focuses on protecting production continuity by building visibility across multiple tiers of the supply chain. You will monitor risks proactively, translate complex data into clear insights, and support leadership with timely, strategic decision-making. The position suits someone who works well in a fast-moving, high-performance environment and can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Technical execution: network mapping and data analysis
- Map multi-tier supply networks in depth for complex electronic black boxes and other critical commodities, identifying suppliers beyond Tier 1, including Tier 2, Tier 3, and further downstream.
- Check supplier-submitted information against industry intelligence, logistics inputs, and historical trends to build a reliable single source of truth for the network.
- Spot single points of failure in the sub-tier ecosystem, with attention to geographic clustering and capacity limitations.
- Apply data science methods to identify regional concentration risks, geopolitical exposure, and broader supply constraints.
Operational management
- Deliver risk assessments within expected turnaround times and maintain strong accuracy in predicting risks across assigned commodity portfolios.
- Take full ownership of data workstreams and manage them with discipline in an agile, high-pressure setting.
- Support mitigation playbooks by supplying the data foundation needed for de-risking and regionalization actions.
Digital integration and collaboration
- Work with IT teams to prepare validated N-Tier data for Ford’s AI-enabled resilience dashboards.
- Provide technical support to Global Purchasing, Engineering, and Material Planning and Logistics teams during supply disruptions and strategic sourcing reviews.
- Build clear, impactful visualizations that make complex supply dependencies easier for senior leaders to understand.
Additional requirements and work environment
- A B.E. or B.Tech degree in a technical or engineering discipline is required.
- Specialization in Supply Chain Operations Research will be considered an added advantage, and knowledge of data science is preferred.
- Applicants should have 3 to 6 years of experience in supply chain analytics, commodity management, or risk management, ideally in the automotive, electronics, or aerospace sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and advanced Excel is needed.
- Exposure to AI and machine learning use cases in supply chain management is highly desirable.
- Understanding of global supplier networks, electronic component manufacturing, or raw material markets is important for success in this role.
- The working shift is 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM IST to align with North American and European stakeholders under a follow-the-sun monitoring model.
- The role is based in a high-paced, data-driven Global Capability Center, where priorities may change quickly in response to geopolitical or environmental developments.
