Site Operative

Role overview

This is a permanent, full-time Site Operative position based in Bideford. The role is set in an outdoor environment and combines hands-on site work with strong customer service, helping members of the public use the facility safely and effectively while supporting a more sustainable future.

Location and working pattern

• Base location: Caddsdown Industrial Estate, Clovelly Rd, Bideford, EX39 3BE
• Contract: Permanent
• Working pattern: Full time
• Weekly hours: 40 hours in summer and 36.5 hours in winter
• Start times: Weekdays at 08:45; weekends at 09:45
• Finish times: April to September, weekdays at 17:15 and weekends at 18:15; October to March at 16:45

What the role involves

You will support site users by giving clear guidance, helping them dispose of materials correctly, and keeping the site orderly. The job also includes maintaining safety standards and keeping accurate records for material removals.

Training and development

• A 3-day first aid course must be completed by the successful candidate
• Further development may include mobile plant training, with novice training provided if you have no prior experience
• Health and safety development may also be available, including IOSH Managing Safely
• There is potential to work toward additional qualifications such as IOSH health and safety and COTC Level 4

Requirements

• Strong customer service ability is essential
• You should be comfortable working both as part of a team and on your own
• A genuine interest in progressing within the organisation is important
• Previous experience in waste operations or with mobile plant is helpful, but not mandatory because full training will be given
