Role overview
Gold Fields is seeking a Shotfirer to join the Surface Mining team at the St Ives Gold Mine. This permanent position is based on an 8/6 roster and is suited to candidates who are either resident in the Kambalda or Kalgoorlie region, or available for FIFO travel from Perth. The position contributes directly to safe, efficient, and high-quality blasting activities at one of the company's key gold mining operations.
What the job involves
- Carry out blasting work safely, accurately, and on time as part of the surface mining crew.
- Store, handle, and use explosives in line with legal and site requirements.
- Maintain explosive storage areas and complete quality assurance checks and audits.
- Spot, report, and help address hazards to support a strong zero-harm safety culture.
- Follow environmental requirements while performing blasting duties.
- Work closely with the wider mining team to help meet production targets safely and efficiently.
Skills and qualifications
Applicants should already have a current manual driver’s licence, a Dangerous Goods Security Card, and a valid WA Shot Firer’s Licence. Prior experience in surface mining in a similar role is also required.

Accommodation support
Eligible candidates from under-represented groups, such as women in mining and Indigenous Australians, may be offered up to six months of company-funded accommodation when relocating to Kambalda for a permanent role. The housing provided includes basic furniture and utilities and depends on availability as well as housing policy. Support is available to help transition to a lease after the initial six-month period, and final eligibility and terms will be confirmed during recruitment.
