Role overview
VCV is hiring a Senior Procurement Manager to support the sourcing, purchasing, vendor coordination, and supply chain functions for large-scale AI-ready data center projects. The role focuses on acquiring the infrastructure needed to build, expand, and run high-performance computing facilities while balancing cost, timing, quality, compliance, and supplier reliability.
The position is based in the New York City Metropolitan Area and is a full-time, on-site opportunity.
Key responsibilities
- Create and carry out procurement plans for new data center builds, expansions, and ongoing operational needs.
- Source essential infrastructure across electrical, mechanical, networking, IT, and facility categories.
- Procure equipment such as UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, cooling solutions, racks, containment systems, fiber and network hardware, servers, storage, and other IT equipment.
- Run supplier assessments, RFQs, RFPs, and competitive bid exercises.
- Evaluate market conditions, pricing, lead times, and supply-chain exposure to guide buying decisions.
- Build and manage relationships with manufacturers, distributors, contractors, and service partners.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, warranty terms, and service-level commitments.
- Track vendor performance using measures such as delivery speed, product quality, responsiveness, and cost efficiency.
- Set up backup sourcing options for critical materials and equipment.
- Lead commercial and contract discussions to secure favorable terms and reduce procurement risk.
- Review purchase agreements, master service agreements, and supplier contracts with legal and finance stakeholders.
- Ensure procurement work follows company policies, industry rules, and contract obligations.
- Work closely with design, engineering, and construction teams to forecast procurement demand.
- Support capital expenditure planning and project budgets.
- Monitor purchase timelines and align deliveries with construction and operating milestones.
- Resolve supply-chain issues that could delay project execution.
- Improve inventory levels for critical spare parts and operational equipment.
- Introduce procurement best practices and process improvements.
- Maintain procurement documentation, supplier records, and reporting tools.
- Use ERP and procurement platforms to manage purchasing activities.
- Develop and control procurement budgets.
- Measure savings and cost-avoidance outcomes.
- Perform total cost of ownership analysis for major purchasing decisions.
- Prepare procurement reports and executive-level summaries.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
- An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience handling procurement for AI data center environments.
- Proven background sourcing major electrical and mechanical infrastructure equipment.
- Experience overseeing multi-million-dollar procurement budgets and supplier agreements.
- Strong knowledge of AI/HPC data center infrastructure and critical facility systems.
- Solid understanding of procurement practices, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- Familiarity with ERP tools such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Coupa, or similar systems.
- Working knowledge of construction procurement and project management workflows.
