About the company
A leading European independent energy storage business is expanding its footprint across the continent with a focus on large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). Its work supports grid reliability, helps integrate renewable power, and contributes to net-zero goals through innovative, scalable energy storage solutions.
Role overview
The business is looking for a Procurement Manager to help strengthen a procurement function that is growing quickly alongside a strong project pipeline. As many BESS projects move into the contracting stage, this role will be central to building a structured, standardised procurement approach that supports efficient delivery across several European markets.
Location: Germany (multiple locations) / Remote
Key responsibilities
You will lead procurement activity for BESS projects and act as a key link between internal teams and external partners. The role combines tender management, contract negotiation, supplier coordination, and procurement governance.
- Run tendering processes and negotiate framework agreements and project contracts for BESS projects in Germany and other European markets.
- Manage procurement end to end, from the first request through to contract award and execution.
- Serve as the main coordination point between procurement, technical experts, project developers, and external contractors.
- Work closely with asset management, construction, finance, and origination teams to align technical and commercial requirements.
- Partner with external legal and technical advisors to improve contractual outcomes.
- Lead and support due diligence for supplier selection and contract award decisions.
- Help grow a strong contractor network in Germany, especially across electrical and Balance of Plant (BoP) scopes.
- Build durable relationships with suppliers and business partners.
- Keep procurement records up to date, including supplier assessments, benchmarking data, and market intelligence.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings strong procurement experience in energy or infrastructure, with a background in complex project environments and cross-border collaboration.
- Roughly 5+ years of experience in procurement or contract management, preferably in energy or infrastructure.
- Experience with CAPEX projects in renewable energy such as BESS, solar PV, wind, or similar.
- Solid knowledge of contract structures such as FIDIC and/or VOB/B.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating complex commercial and contractual agreements.
- Experience working in international project settings.
- Willingness to travel occasionally across Europe.
Qualifications and skills
- A degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or a related discipline.
- Fluency in German at native level.
- Additional European languages are an advantage.
- Strong commercial judgment and a structured way of working.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, results-focused, and adaptable mindset.
- Ability to work independently as well as within multicultural teams.
Additional information
This position supports a fast-growing renewable energy organisation at a stage of rapid project execution. The role is suited to someone who enjoys shaping procurement processes, working across functions, and contributing to large-scale energy transition projects in a dynamic European environment.
