Role overview

Spotify is hiring a Senior HR Generalist to join its Global HR team in Singapore, with responsibility across JAPAC markets. In this position, you will work alongside the HR Business Partner for SAMEA and JAPAC to shape local people strategy while ensuring employees experience a consistent, high-quality journey across the full lifecycle. The role combines strategic partnership with day-to-day execution, supporting business growth, organizational change, workforce planning, and development initiatives.

You will collaborate with a broad internal network that includes HR Business Partners, Employment Legal, Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, Learning & Development, Diversity & Inclusion, and other teams to deliver an effective and compliant people experience.

What the role involves

  • Work with business leaders and the JAPAC & SAMEA HRBP to foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
  • Convert business goals into practical people actions focused on hiring, growth, engagement, and retention.
  • Coach and guide managers to strengthen leadership skills and improve performance.
  • Analyze people data to spot patterns, risks, and opportunities, then recommend workable solutions that fit local market conditions while staying aligned to global strategy.
  • Support teams through organizational change and transformation as a change partner.
  • Collaborate with global partners, HRBP, and local leaders to localize and roll out initiatives that build manager capability, employee skills, and team effectiveness for an AI-ready future.
  • Oversee the employee lifecycle end to end, from onboarding through offboarding.
  • Support annual HR cycles such as talent reviews, performance calibration, compensation planning, engagement programs, and reorganizations.
  • Provide practical support on employee relations and policy issues, working with Employment Legal when appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with local labor law requirements while balancing global standards and local context.
  • Review existing local processes and suggest improvements that increase scalability, efficiency, and employee experience.
  • Manage local documentation and government-related paperwork for the region in coordination with the wider JAPAC HR team.

What you bring

  • At least 7 years of broad HR experience in regional roles such as HR Lead, Senior HR Generalist, Employee Relations Manager, People Operations Lead, or HRBP.
  • Experience in global or matrixed organizations; experience in media or technology companies is preferred.
  • Background partnering with senior leaders and supporting leadership team initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices and labor regulations across key JAPAC markets, including Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Korea, with interest in expanding that knowledge.
  • Comfort working through change and ambiguity while keeping teams informed and supported.
  • Cultural awareness and experience working across multiple JAPAC markets.
  • Ability to build trust quickly, communicate clearly, and take a proactive, positive approach to challenges.
  • Understanding of how to balance global frameworks with local needs and influence both global and local stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking combined with hands-on execution and a willingness to step in where needed.
  • Strong prioritization skills, adaptability in fast-moving settings, and resourcefulness in finding answers.
  • Collaborative, inclusive mindset with openness to different perspectives.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
