Role Overview

This position focuses on maintaining and improving the reliability and performance of cement mill equipment at the Belgaum location. The role combines preventive maintenance, shutdown planning, troubleshooting, safety compliance, and continuous improvement to ensure smooth mill operations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain high availability and dependable performance of Ball Mills, Roller Press systems, Vertical Roller Mills (VRM), Separators, gearboxes, fans, and related auxiliary equipment.

Apply preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance methods to reduce failures and extend equipment life.

Use vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication practices to monitor equipment condition and improve MTBF while reducing MTTR.

Work on mill performance improvements to support higher throughput, stable operation, lower downtime, reduced specific power consumption (kWh/ton), and better grinding efficiency.

Drive cost control efforts by optimizing spare parts usage and inventory, evaluating repair-versus-replacement choices, and identifying maintenance savings opportunities.

Ensure full compliance with safety requirements, SOPs, and statutory norms while promoting zero-harm practices and safe execution of work.

Lead continuous improvement efforts using RCA, FMEA, and other structured problem-solving tools, and introduce practical digital or automation-led improvements wherever feasible.

Plan and manage shutdowns effectively, respond quickly to breakdowns, and investigate recurring faults to deliver lasting corrective actions.

Coordinate closely with production, electrical, and process teams, while also guiding technicians and junior engineers to strengthen team capability.

Maintain detailed equipment histories, maintenance logs, and performance reports, including availability, breakdown frequency, maintenance costs, and other key indicators.

Requirements

A B.Tech or B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.

The role calls for hands-on exposure to cement mill operations, mechanical maintenance, and equipment reliability practices.

Applicants should be comfortable with troubleshooting rotating equipment, working on shutdown activities, and collaborating across plant functions.
