About Austal

Under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement, Austal is progressing toward becoming the Commonwealth’s strategic shipbuilder in Western Australia. This work will support ongoing naval shipbuilding at the Henderson Shipyard, starting with Landing Craft Medium and Heavy vessels for the Australian Army.

Role overview
The Scheduler will support Austal’s Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement capability by bringing some practical experience in program planning and scheduling. Reporting to the SSA Planning & Scheduling Manager, the role helps develop and maintain schedules across production, engineering, procurement, and connected functions, while staying aligned with required standards and contractual obligations.
Key responsibilities
- Support the upkeep of accurate, dependable schedules that are actively used by the delivery team.
- Assist with basic schedule analysis and contribute to scenario planning.
- Work with stakeholders to develop solid schedule assumptions and baselines.
- Help encourage strong scheduling discipline and compliance with established processes.
- Monitor schedule performance and support variance analysis.
- Contribute to effective schedule control within an Earned Value Management environment.
Requirements
- Australian citizenship and eligibility for a Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
- Approximately 12 months of scheduling experience, ideally in marine, defence, or complex manufacturing settings.
- Some understanding of project scheduling principles, either from a scheduling role or a project environment.
- Exposure to Primavera P6 Professional.
- A willingness to learn, improve, and deliver results while keeping an eye on risk and quality.
- A proactive approach and the ability to support team goals while building capability over time.
- Clear communication skills and a stakeholder-focused mindset.
