The Brooks site processes roughly 4,200 cattle each day and produces boxed beef primal cuts, ground beef, trimmings, by-products, and hides for shipment throughout Canada and internationally. The Calgary Mountain Creek Farms site makes value-added items such as marinated products, portioned packs, kebabs, and more. The Belleville, Ontario operation produces fresh meat and seafood for leading Canadian retailers.

Role summary

JBS Foods Ontario Inc. is hiring a full-time permanent Sanitor for its Belleville, Ontario facility. In this position, you will support the production of retail-ready fresh meat products, including beef, pork, veal, ground beef, and fresh sausage.

Key duties

Your work will focus on keeping the production environment clean and safe, while supporting food production operations.

• Perform sanitation tasks across production areas, including scrubbing walls, floors, tables, hallways, and equipment.
• Use hoses and repetitive hand-scrubbing methods as part of regular cleaning routines.
• Work with production machinery, sanitation tools, and a range of cleaning chemicals.
• Follow safety procedures while operating in fast-moving production settings.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment supplied by the employer.
• Complete mandatory safety training assigned to the role.
• Complete mandatory food safety and GMP training assigned to the role.

Working conditions

This role involves a variety of physical and environmental challenges, including wet, humid, cold, and hot conditions, as well as indoor and outdoor work. The environment may include slippery floors and high noise levels.

Physical demands include repetitive motion, heavy lifting, pushing and pulling sanitation equipment weighing over 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and tasks that require bending, crouching, kneeling, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail. The position is based in a cold or refrigerated environment.

Requirements

• Ability to wear employer-provided PPE such as a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and other required safety gear.
• Comfortable working in wet, humid, hot, cold, indoor, and outdoor settings.
• Willingness to work around chemicals, machinery, and production equipment.
• Capable of handling fast-paced, repetitive sanitation work.
• Able to pull, push, and lift sanitation equipment weighing more than 50 pounds.
• Must complete required safety and food safety/GMP training.
• High school diploma is required.
• 1 to less than 7 months of full-time experience in a physically demanding job similar to food processing.
• Working knowledge of production equipment.
• Willingness to learn and follow the correct, safe method for each task.
• Ability to understand and apply safe work practices and principles.
• Strong safety-first mindset.
• Motivated, accountable, determined, and aligned with ownership-focused values.
• Basic English communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg.

Compensation and benefits
