Role overview
This position is focused on giving an impartial, evidence-based view of projects within PEPS. The role supports better decision-making by checking whether project plans, execution, schedule, and cost are aligned with approved commitments and with QatarEnergy’s wider business goals. It also helps strengthen value creation by identifying risks, highlighting delivery challenges, and recommending practical actions to keep projects on track.
What you will do
- Assess projects independently and objectively to understand their status, strengths, risks, and delivery outlook.
- Review whether projects are likely to meet sanctioned scope, timeline, and budget commitments.
- Identify obstacles and potential risk areas, then suggest measures to address them.
- Provide clear recommendations that support project business objectives and improve execution outcomes.
- Offer independent observations on project performance, deliverables, and alignment with QatarEnergy priorities.
- Carry out project analyses, project reviews, project audits, and contractor market intelligence activities for PEPS projects.
- Help develop and promote communities of good practice in project management across PEPS.
Experience and expertise
- At least 20 years of experience in engineering, project management, and the execution of multidisciplinary projects.
- At least 10 years of leadership experience in project management, ideally in a Project Manager role, with a strong record in the oil and gas sector.
- Hands-on experience in building project execution strategies, project management systems and processes, HSEQ practices, and review activities for oil and gas and infrastructure projects.
- Strong interpersonal ability, along with proven leadership and team-building capability.
Education and professional background
- A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from a recognized university is required.
- A higher degree is considered an added advantage.
- Membership in a recognized engineering and/or project management professional body is also an advantage.
