Role summary
The Kit Kemp Design Studio, part of Firmdale Hotels PLC, creates distinctive interiors with a lively use of colour, tailored detailing and a mix of craftsmanship with modern elegance. Its portfolio spans award-winning Firmdale hotel interiors, private residences on the French Riviera and large-scale properties in Palm Desert.
As a member of the Design team, the Procurement Manager will take ownership of sourcing, purchasing and coordinating the delivery of furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, decorative lighting, artwork, accessories and interior finishes for UK and international projects.
This position calls for a highly organised, commercially aware professional who can balance design ambition with budget constraints while developing productive supplier relationships across the UK and the US. The role works closely with designers, suppliers and operational teams to help deliver projects on schedule, within budget and to the high standards associated with the Firmdale name. Experience with ESTIPC software would be an advantage.
Key responsibilities
- Source furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, decorative lighting, artwork, accessories and specialist interior finishes for luxury hospitality and residential work.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, artisans and specialist makers in the UK, Europe and the US.
- Research and introduce new suppliers and sourcing options that fit the studio’s design standards and visual style.
- Request quotations and negotiate pricing, delivery timelines and wider commercial terms.
- Arrange product sampling and design approvals with the Design team.
- Check that all purchased items match the agreed specification and quality expectations.
- Assist the senior management team in moving projects from concept stage through to completion.
- Create and maintain procurement schedules and project timelines.
- Coordinate supplier details, quotations, specifications and delivery plans.
- Keep Directors and Associates informed on procurement progress, risks and opportunities.
- Anticipate and clearly communicate any threats to project delivery.
- Resolve supplier and delivery issues while keeping projects moving forward.
- Support project budgets and expenditure control.
- Track procurement spend and look for ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare regular procurement reports and updates for the Head of Design.
- Ensure all purchasing follows company policy and approved budget levels.
- Carry out supplier reviews and maintain preferred supplier relationships.
- Monitor market developments, new products and emerging suppliers.
- Confirm that suppliers consistently meet Firmdale’s standards for quality and service.
- Handle warranty and aftercare matters where relevant.
- Work closely with Interior Designers so procurement choices align with the overall design concept.
- Collaborate with Property, Operations and Finance teams.
- Contribute to project planning meetings and provide procurement input throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience and requirements
- Proven procurement and sourcing experience in luxury hospitality, high-end residential or interior design environments.
- Working knowledge of ESTIPC software.
- Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers in both the United Kingdom and the United States is required.
- Strong understanding of furniture, fabrics, decorative lighting, artwork, wallcoverings and specialist finishes.
- Track record of supporting projects through multiple stages from concept to completion.
- Good financial awareness of project costs and budgets.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational ability.
