Positive Behaviour Specialist

Overview

Corlann is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated professional with a strong, respectful approach to supporting people with intellectual disabilities. This permanent full-time position is based across County Clare and involves working 70 hours per fortnight (70/70).

The successful candidate will join a positive behaviour support team delivering assessment and intervention support to adults with intellectual disabilities who receive day and residential services from Corlann Clare. The aim of the role is to help people achieve meaningful roles and better personal outcomes by working with individuals, staff, and families to better understand behaviours that communicate needs and preferences.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on positive behaviour support, assessment, and practical intervention. You will work with adults with intellectual disabilities, helping to identify the reasons behind behaviour that challenges and supporting teams and families to respond in a person-centred way.

Qualifications and Experience

• A recognised university degree in Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, or a closely related field is required.
• Training in Positive Behaviour Support or Applied Behaviour Analysis is expected.
• At least two years of experience providing Positive Behaviour Support in an organisation serving people with intellectual disabilities is required.
• Experience preparing and documenting Positive Behaviour Support Plans is necessary.
• Prior experience supporting people with disabilities is required.
• A respectful, rights-based attitude towards people with disabilities is essential.
• Knowledge of person-centred planning and individually tailored service design is important.
• A full clean driving licence and access to a car are required.
