Role overview

As a porter at xAI, you will support the private restaurant and the broader campus by greeting and assisting guests, employees, and management in a courteous manner. The role also includes helping with supply replenishment, setting up takeaway items, and carrying out additional duties assigned by kitchen leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Apply sanitation and food-safety standards consistently throughout daily work.
• Check receiving areas and help ensure they remain safe and secure.
• Finish daily, weekly, and monthly assignments accurately and on time.
• Follow safety procedures and help protect the wellbeing of coworkers and guests.
• Coordinate tasks with teammates so service can open smoothly and efficiently.
• Receive food deliveries correctly and organize cooler, freezer, and dry storage stock using FIFO practices while tracking shelf life and code dates.
• Maintain practical knowledge of how restaurant equipment operates.

Basic qualifications

• High school diploma or an equivalent credential.
• At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant, warehouse, and/or customer service environment.

Preferred experience

• Background in restaurant operations.
• Prior porter experience.
• Inventory handling experience.
• Current and valid WA food handler’s card or an equivalent certification.
• Ability to collaborate well with others and work independently with initiative.
• Willingness to take on other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the manager on duty.

Additional requirements

• Availability for the 1st shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Capability to lift and carry heavy items without assistance, including large packages, tubs of dishes, or trays, weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to remain standing for extended periods, up to 8 to 10 hours per day.
• Readiness to work any shift as needed, including overtime and weekends.
• Comfort with frequent bending, stooping, and lifting.

ITAR requirement

Because of U.S. government export-control rules, applicants must be one of the following: a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or an asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158; alternatively, the applicant must be eligible to obtain the necessary authorization from the U.S. Department of State.
