Role overview
Join Tate & Lyle’s Global Operations team in Wacol, Brisbane as a Planner for ANZ. This is an immediate-hire opportunity in a fully on-site role. The position reports to the Planning & Procurement Supervisor and focuses on building production plans that align with demand, customer expectations, quality requirements, and scheduling constraints.
You will work closely with teams across Procurement, Manufacturing & Production, Quality, and Customer Service to keep supply and demand in balance, reduce inventory costs, and respond quickly to changes across the supply chain.
Core responsibilities
- Build efficient manufacturing schedules that align with material availability and customer lead times.
- Coordinate production maintenance with contractors while taking production timing into account.
- Prepare contractor documentation before work begins and file completed paperwork afterward.
- Check that all contractor documents are current before any work starts.
- Maintain contractor records, including compliance calendars and spreadsheet trackers.
- Use SAP to plan production, record confirmations, dispatch goods, track stock, manage customer/blend needs, and generate reports.
- Keep the production board and related spreadsheets updated promptly.
- Spot efficiency gaps and recommend ways to improve processes.
- Prepare and adjust the production plan by setting priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, and resolving issues.
- Follow up with Warehouse when incoming goods have not arrived as listed in the weekly report.
- Receive inbound goods quickly and accurately.
- Escalate any incoming-goods problems to Procurement without delay.
- Create purchase requests when needed.
- Contribute actively to the company’s continuous improvement efforts and future growth plans.
- Investigate operational issues using data, identify solutions, and recommend corrective action.
- Develop production schedules that support DIFOT and specification requirements.
- Use experience and judgment to anticipate, prevent, and handle problems.
- Ensure all staff and contractors follow safety, food safety, and quality procedures at all times.
- Take initiative to improve performance continuously.
- Work independently and manage time effectively.
- File goods-in notes and stock adjustment forms on time.
- Maintain housekeeping standards to keep the workplace clean and safe.
- Provide temporary support in customer service and procurement during absences.
- Prepare reports and other business-related tasks requested by the Supervisor or Manager in a timely way.
- Carry out additional duties or support other areas as required by the Supervisor or Manager.
EHSQS expectations
- Maintain and improve EHSQS standards and company requirements.
- Participate in EHSQS activities such as training and audits.
- Take on relevant roles such as element owner, support member, EHS committee participant, or emergency response team member where applicable in J2E.
- Complete safety training and audits as required.
- Align personal goals and objectives with the site strategic plan.
- Apply knowledge of Life Saving Principles, Stop Work Authority, and Product Protection Principles.
- Take part in site safety observations.
- Report near misses and unsafe acts.
- Help improve J2E element scores in the role.
About you
The preferred candidate will bring a background in manufacturing planning and strong operational coordination skills. While not mandatory, 3+ years of manufacturing experience is desirable, along with Certificate IV in Food Processing or Warehousing. Strong capability with SAP, MRP, resource planning tools, Power BI, and Microsoft applications is important.
You should be highly capable in planning, administration, critical thinking, organising, prioritising, problem-solving, and decision-making. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are needed to work effectively across functions. The role also suits someone who can start on short notice.
This position is fully site-based in Wacol, Brisbane.
