PCV Bus Driver

Role overview

Join Arriva at the Castleford depot as a PCV Bus Driver and play a key part in keeping your community moving. The role involves transporting commuters, shoppers and schoolchildren safely and reliably, while providing a friendly service that helps passengers get where they need to go.

You will build familiarity with regular passengers, develop positive relationships on your routes and contribute to a welcoming travel experience. The organisation places strong emphasis on customer care, community connection, inclusion and diversity.

Pay and probation details

The hourly pay range is £14.00 to £16.00.

During the first 6 months of probation, the rate is £14.00 per hour for candidates who have at least 1 year of PCV experience within the last 5 years.

After successful completion of probation, the rate increases to £16.00 per hour for candidates with 1 year of PCV experience to move to the higher rate.

Pay is reviewed frequently through pay negotiations.

Working pattern

The role follows a rotating 5-out-of-7 shift pattern, with schedules planned 6 to 8 weeks in advance so you can organise your personal life around work.

Morning shifts can begin from 04:00, afternoon shifts from 12:00 and evening shifts from 18:00. Fixed early, afternoon or evening shifts are not available separately.

Overtime may be offered depending on request and availability.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a PCV licence, have no more than 6 points on their driving licence, be able to pass a drug and alcohol test, demonstrate strong people and customer service skills, and be willing to work flexible shift patterns.
