Role Overview
This position is for a L2 Network Wireless Engineer focused on Cisco wireless environments. The role involves day-to-day support, configuration assistance, monitoring, and troubleshooting across wireless infrastructure and user connectivity issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the configuration, deployment, and issue resolution for Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and access points.
- Work with Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco DNA Center for wireless monitoring and management.
- Assist with Cisco ISE, RADIUS/AAA, and 802.1X-based authentication scenarios.
- Use knowledge of Wi-Fi standards, RF behavior, modulation, interference, and roaming to diagnose problems.
- Apply understanding of wireless security concepts such as WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, and EAP methods.
- Handle L2 incidents, service requests, and end-user wireless connectivity problems.
- Investigate AP registration failures, client association issues, roaming disruptions, and authentication errors.
- Carry out basic Cisco WLC changes on AireOS and 9800 platforms with supervision.
- Track wireless alarms, AP/WLC health, and performance metrics using Prime or DNAC.
- Support RF checks, including channel and power tuning as well as coverage verification.
- Help onboard new access points, modify SSIDs, and update floor maps.
- Record fixes, maintain SOPs, and contribute to knowledge base content.
- Coordinate with L3 teams for escalations and deeper root-cause analysis.
- Be available for 24x7 shift-based work.
Additional Information
The role requires familiarity with site survey tools such as Ekahau and AirMagnet. Experience in wireless operations, monitoring, and incident handling will be valuable for success in this position.
