Müllwerker*innen

About the Role

The Universitätsstadt Gießen is hiring multiple full-time, permanent Müllwerker*innen to start as soon as possible. The position is based in Gießen and is performed on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out waste collection duties across the city, including emptying residual waste, organic waste and paper bins, as well as collecting bulky waste, e-waste and recyclables.
• Support street cleaning activities, winter service operations and special assignments when needed.
• Handle additional operational tasks as assigned by the department.

Profile and Requirements

• Full physical fitness and unrestricted ability to work.
• Previous experience in a similar field is an advantage.
• Valid driving licence category B.
• Driving licence category C is desirable, ideally with key number 95 or proof of driver qualification.
• Strong service orientation, commitment, dependability, sense of responsibility and a courteous manner, including in conflict situations.
• Ability to work well in a team and adapt flexibly to changing small work groups.
• Good German language skills in speaking and writing at B1 level.
• Ability to work in diverse environments and with diverse groups.

Working Conditions

The role requires willingness to work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. During winter service, including on-call duty, and for special occasions, work may also be required outside regular working hours and beyond the usual schedule. Shift work is not currently planned, but the employer expressly reserves the right to introduce it later.
