Role overview
West London NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist to join its team in Isleworth. This post offers the chance to further develop your clinical practice while working within a larger multidisciplinary service focused on delivering care at the right time and in the right place. You will also take part in the Trust’s in-house development programme, which is designed to strengthen the skills and professional attributes needed throughout your career.
What the role involves
You will manage a varied musculoskeletal caseload and use a broad range of treatment and care options, with guidance from a named supervisor. The role calls for strong communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities, along with good planning, organisation and decision-making skills. At times, you may need to work under pressure while still maintaining high standards of care.
- Perform thorough and appropriate assessments using clinical knowledge, practical skill and reasoning to support accurate diagnosis.
- Work with patients to set shared treatment goals and provide person-centred care based on assessment findings.
- Apply understanding of risk, safety, patient choice, shared decision-making, independence, conflicting priorities and service eligibility.
- Use communication, reasoning and negotiation skills to build effective partnerships with patients, families and carers, while recognising barriers to communication.
- Plan and facilitate patient group sessions where clinically appropriate.
- Identify and manage risks linked to a patient’s ability to function.
- Support effective discharge planning.
- Track and assess the impact of interventions and treatments using outcome measures.
- Represent the Physiotherapy Service in multidisciplinary team meetings, network discussions and clinics, and contribute to care planning.
- Work alongside assistants and technical instructors, offering support and guidance on clinical matters relating to caseloads.
