MEP Project Director

Role overview

The MEP Project Director is responsible for providing senior-level direction for the planning, coordination, design, and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across construction projects. The position focuses on making sure all MEP activities support the project’s scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations while meeting applicable standards and regulations.

This role requires close collaboration with project stakeholders, strong control over resources and risks, and a continuous-improvement mindset to help deliver efficient, high-quality MEP outcomes. The position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Key responsibilities

• Create and guide overall strategies for the design and execution of MEP systems so they remain aligned with project objectives.
• Direct the MEP team, offering leadership, support, and mentoring to help maintain strong performance and professional development.
• Work with architects, engineers, contractors, and other parties to ensure MEP systems are smoothly incorporated into project design and delivery.
• Build and control the MEP budget, track spending, and introduce cost-control measures without compromising quality.
• Set up and apply quality assurance processes so installations match design requirements, industry practices, and safety rules.
• Assess possible MEP-related risks and prepare mitigation plans to reduce disruption to the project.
• Source, negotiate, and oversee contracts with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to secure timely and economical delivery of goods and services.
• Track installation progress through site visits and inspections to confirm schedule adherence and quality compliance.
• Verify that all MEP activities comply with local, national, and international codes, regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Keep clients and stakeholders informed with regular progress updates, handle concerns, and support overall satisfaction with project results.

Experience and technical expectations

Applicants should bring 15 to 18 years of experience working with major contracting organizations, especially on high-rise or hotel building projects. Strong practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is essential, including design principles, installation methods, and relevant industry standards.

The role also calls for solid capability in planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, along with proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams. Clear verbal and written communication, analytical thinking, and fast problem-solving are important for managing complex project environments effectively. ERP knowledge is required, with SAP preferred for functional use.
