Role Overview
This position is focused on managing coal handling plant (CHP) material handling activities for a thermal power project in Singoli, Madhya Pradesh. The role calls for end-to-end ownership of planning, execution, operations, compliance, and performance improvement for conveyor and associated material handling systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to plan and refine material handling layouts and systems for thermal power applications, using current technology and established industry practices.
- Direct the commissioning and startup of CHP equipment such as conveyors, crushers, stackers, reclaimers, and feeders, while ensuring design alignment and safety compliance.
- Manage routine plant operations, track performance measures, and put preventive maintenance plans in place to reduce outages and improve throughput.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service partners to support timely supply, quality standards, and delivery within agreed project scope.
- Apply strict safety and environmental controls, carry out periodic audits, and help build a zero-harm culture for employees and contractors.
- Track budgets and use resources wisely, finding opportunities to lower costs without compromising quality or operational performance.
- Investigate and fix technical issues across mechanical, electrical, and control systems linked to CHP material handling equipment.
- Keep accurate documentation such as maintenance records, incident reports, and operational data, and share clear updates with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Guide and support junior engineers and technicians, encouraging teamwork, learning, and growth aligned with organizational values.
- Drive process enhancements and equipment upgrades that improve reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Ensure all activities meet applicable national and local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Qualifications
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
Certification Preferences
- PMP certification, or an equivalent project management credential, is preferred.
- Certification in material handling or thermal power plant operations, including NPTI credentials, will be an added advantage.
- Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH or similar certifications are highly desirable.
