Role summary
This role is responsible for end-to-end quality control in the laboratory, including finished goods and raw material approvals, lab documentation, proficiency management, productivity tracking, and compliance with GLP. It plays an important part in concentrate operations at the site and supports the execution of product quality testing, approvals, and quality policies issued by the supply chain quality team.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all laboratory activities, including testing within agreed turnaround times, approvals, and documentation.
- Maintain full adherence to QPP, TM, SOP, IS, and GLP requirements for the concentrate laboratory.
- Check that concentrate analysis is carried out against defined quality standards and monitor KPIs such as caffeine, TA, and RFT.
- Work closely with production, stores, and planning teams to keep plant operations running smoothly.
- Keep the laboratory clean, hygienic, well-organized, and compliant with sanitation and GLP expectations.
- Implement quality procedures and SOPs issued by the SC Quality Group.
- Support compliance with local quality and food safety regulations.
- Conduct orientation sessions on product quality and compliance for all new site joiners.
- Ensure 100% right-first-time performance for new products through accurate documentation, labeling, and testing.
- Coordinate and support new raw material vendor development and qualification.
- Track and deliver quality department commitments related to AOP, PTRs, and Capex plans.
- Provide quality and food safety guidance to plant manufacturing and supply chain teams.
- Lead the monthly quality system review with the plant senior leadership team.
- Ensure all food safety and GMP trainings are completed on site, including for the Food Safety Team.
- Manage change control activities.
- Lead the Quality Reserves Program.
- Drive the Non-Conformance Programme and manage the site TrackWise system.
- Act as backup for the food defence coordinator.
- Interface with external stakeholders on QC-related matters.
- Ensure TrackWise training is completed, the system is actively used in the plant, and pending records are updated.
- Track proficiency compliance for all schemes and update results on time.
- Support procurement in resolving supplier quality assurance issues.
- Assist with commissioning and validation of new equipment.
- Ensure compliance with local oil approval SOPs and processes.
- Lead the plant chemical control program.
- Drive monthly lab scorecard performance tracking and sustain results.
- Simplify and improve laboratory processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the cleaning and sanitation program is followed and validated annually.
- Lead HAZMAT compliance activities.
- Ensure the water treatment system operates as per SOP and support related water projects.
- Maintain lab safety compliance and conduct monthly audits.
- Lead 3S activities in the quality laboratory.
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in Biotech, Chemistry, or Food Technology.
- Strong understanding of laboratory operations and instruments.
- At least 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing plant, preferably with a multinational company.
- Knowledge of chemical, biological, and physical testing methods.
- Familiarity with water treatment processes.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and techniques, FSSC, instrumentation, budgets, GMP, and food safety audits.
