Role Overview
The Lead Electrical Estimator will be based at Mercury Headquarters in Ballycoolin, Dublin, and will play a key role in leading estimation activity within the wider team. The position involves coordinating resources, ensuring estimates are prepared thoroughly, and supporting the commercial and construction teams through the full bid lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate an estimation team within a broader group, including allocating resources and holding team members accountable for their assigned estimates.
- Make sure every estimate is completed with appropriate diligence and in line with the established estimating process.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Estimation Manager on ongoing estimate activity.
- Follow bid-stage guidelines from the construction input at tender stage through to post-contract handover.
- Handle clarifications and negotiations after tenders are submitted.
- Work with the construction commercial team to capture lessons learned from projects and reflect those learnings in future estimates.
- Review design status and collaborate with the Central Engineering team where needed.
- Identify and pursue opportunities with new suppliers and supply chain partners.
- Work closely with pre-construction and construction teams as a committed team contributor.
- Take on any additional duties reasonably related to the role, noting that the company may adjust the scope of normal duties to suit changing business needs.
Requirements
- A degree in Quantity Surveying is required.
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience in Quantity Surveying or Estimating.
- Experience with data centre CSA commercial work is preferred.
- Strong ability to interpret contract documents and understand contract obligations.
- Demonstrated success working on projects valued above €10 million to €15 million.
- Excellent accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Advanced competence in Bill of Quantities preparation and pricing.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for day trips or overnight stays for client meetings and mid-bid or post-bid discussions.
