Role Summary
The Labourer/Sweeper position focuses on a mix of janitorial duties and light maintenance work. The successful person must be comfortable following verbal instructions and performing physical tasks in indoor and outdoor settings, including areas around aircraft.
Key Duties
- Keep hangars, offices, washrooms, lavatories, and similar spaces clean and sanitary using appropriate equipment under general supervision.
- Carry out painting work on walls, floors, machinery, and equipment when assigned.
- Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and windows.
- Maintain company grounds, yards, and parking areas, including clearing snow and ice.
- Dispose of garbage and help remove chemical waste.
- Sweep ramp areas and unload vehicles.
- Support maintenance trades as needed.
- Remove debris created during work activities and help keep the work area safe and tidy.
- Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures.
- Move office furniture or equipment within the plant or to other locations when directed by a supervisor.
- Complete any other related tasks assigned by immediate supervisors.
Requirements
- Ability to lift between 50 lbs and 100 lbs from time to time.
- Comfort using different cleaning agents and cleaning equipment.
- Capability to work on your own as well as collaboratively with others.
- Strong personal commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Willingness to prioritize personal safety and the safety of others while fully complying with federal health and safety laws.
- Readiness to take part in continuous improvement, Lean, and 6S initiatives.
- Must qualify for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, U.S. ITAR requirements, and Canadian government security clearance.
