About the Role
This full-time onsite position is based in Tucker, GA, within the Specimen Processing Department. The Lab Assistant, also titled Data Entry Representative I, is responsible for precise entry of patient and client information while safeguarding confidentiality and following HIPAA requirements. The job operates in a high-volume, fast-moving production setting and places strong emphasis on quality, speed, and accuracy. The scheduled shift runs Tuesday through Saturday from 1:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Pay starts at $17.75 per hour, and eligible employees may receive a 10% shift differential for second shift or 15% for third shift, along with performance bonus eligibility and additional benefits.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
- Previous data entry experience is preferred, especially in production or laboratory settings.
- Strong planning, organization, and detail-checking skills are needed.
- The role requires the ability to work on your own as well as with a team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are important.
- Accuracy in reading, interpreting, and typing information is essential.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or similar tools is an advantage.
- The position involves sitting for extended periods and carefully reviewing visual information.
- The candidate should be able to stay composed and productive under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Confirm and enter client account details, patient demographics, and order codes into the Laboratory Information System.
- Complete all data entry tasks within required turnaround times.
- Process requisitions carefully to preserve data accuracy and consistency.
- Follow HIPAA rules and all internal compliance standards without exception.
- Keep the workspace tidy and well organized to support efficient and safe operations.
- Understand how specimen processing steps connect across the department workflow.
- Work toward departmental goals for productivity and accuracy, with a target of 100% accuracy within six months.
- Support laboratory operations by taking on other duties as needed.
- Continue learning the compliance rules and procedures tied to specimen processing.

Schedule and Compensation
