Role summary
As Kitchen & Beverage Manager at JO&JOE Auckland, you will own the daily food, beverage, and kitchen operations. You will guide both front-of-house and kitchen teams to deliver a lively, high-energy guest experience while maintaining strong standards in service, product quality, and commercial performance. This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for labour, stock, sales, and cost control, as well as support for events, activations, and local collaborations that fit the brand’s social style.
Key responsibilities
You will be expected to lead the venue’s food and beverage operation from the front, support your team day to day, and keep service running smoothly. The role also involves protecting profitability, maintaining compliance, and helping create a welcoming environment for guests and staff.
- Direct and motivate a cross-functional team across the kitchen, bar, and floor to create excellent guest experiences
- Manage daily service operations with clear communication and consistent execution across all service areas
- Increase revenue through promotions, activations, upselling, and awareness of guest preferences and behaviour
- Control labour, rostering, stock, and wastage to meet budget goals and strengthen profitability
- Work closely with the chef to maintain reliable food quality, presentation, and service standards
- Make sure food safety, liquor licensing, and health and safety obligations are consistently followed
- Help plan and deliver events, local activations, and brand partnerships that add energy to the venue
- Foster an inclusive, upbeat team culture that encourages development, engagement, and high performance
- Be present and approachable on the floor, setting the tone for a social and energetic guest environment
What you need
The right candidate will bring prior leadership experience in a busy hospitality setting and be confident handling both service and kitchen operations. You should also be commercially aware, people-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-moving venue.
- Proven leadership background in a high-volume hospitality environment such as a restaurant, bar, hotel, or lifestyle venue
- Strong working knowledge of food, beverage, and bar operations
- Confidence across both front-of-house service and kitchen environments
- Experience managing labour, stock, and cost control with a commercial mindset
- Ability to coach, encourage, and develop team members
- A strong focus on guest experience and community-style hospitality
- Good organisation and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a changing environment
- Professional approach to handling guest issues and complaints
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and responsible alcohol service, with LCQ or willingness to obtain it
- Energetic, practical, and ready to support the team wherever needed
- Interest in local events, current trends, and engaging guest experiences
