Job summary
We are seeking a detail-focused Junior Software Tester to become part of the Quality Assurance team in the United States. This is an entry-level role centered on checking software applications, spotting defects, recording issues clearly, and helping ensure products meet expected quality standards before release. The right person will be analytical, motivated to learn, and genuinely interested in software quality.
Key responsibilities
- Run manual test cases and test scripts to check whether software behaves as expected.
- Find, log, and monitor software defects in an issue-tracking system.
- Carry out functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Recheck fixed bugs and confirm that the issues have been properly resolved.
- Help build and update test plans, test cases, and QA documentation.
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and product teams to understand requirements and testing expectations.
- Share testing status, results, and quality-related metrics with management.
- Assist with software releases and complete validation checks after deployment.
- Adhere to established QA procedures, standards, and best practices.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or another related discipline is required.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, IT support, or a similar technical role.
- Basic knowledge of software development and testing approaches.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- High attention to detail along with solid organizational skills.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and within a team.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience from an internship, academic project, or practical work in software testing is an advantage.
- Exposure to Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or comparable testing platforms is preferred.
- Basic familiarity with SQL and database fundamentals is helpful.
- Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methods is a plus.
- Understanding of test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright would be beneficial.
