Junior Planner - Apparel

Role overview

An established Australian apparel retailer is looking to add two Junior Planners to its menswear planning team. The business operates at national scale, has been part of the local retail market for many years, and serves a loyal customer base with practical everyday clothing rather than fast-moving trend fashion.

The position is based at the Sydney head office and follows a hybrid working arrangement. Salary for the role is $80,000 to $105,000 plus superannuation.

This opportunity is suited to someone who wants to develop their planning career in a commercially driven retail environment where core planning disciplines such as stock availability, sizing, product performance, range balance and customer demand are central to day-to-day decisions.

What the role involves

You will join the menswear planning function and work alongside Senior Planners as well as the buying team. The role combines hands-on support with learning opportunities, giving you exposure to how merchandise flows through a large retail network and how planning decisions influence trade outcomes.

Key duties

• Assist Senior Planners with menswear planning activities
• Partner with the buying team on trading and range-related tasks
• Review product results and overall trade performance
• Contribute to stock, assortment and availability decisions
• Work with size curves and allocation information
• Use Excel to support commercial analysis and decisions
• Deepen your knowledge of planning in a high-volume apparel business

Candidate profile

The employer is open to applicants ranging from Allocators through to experienced Assistant or Junior Planners, provided they bring a solid foundation and a strong interest in retail planning. You do not need to be fully formed in the role yet, but you should have some relevant exposure and the motivation to keep growing.

Suitable experience may come from planning, allocation, merchandise, or stock-focused work, along with a confident grasp of Excel and an appetite to understand how planning supports a large retail operation.
