Inventory Officer

Role Overview

LiquidMetal Global Services Limited is looking for an Inventory Officer to oversee the tracking, control, and reporting of materials, spare parts, tools, and consumables across its operational sites. This position supports cost control by keeping stock at healthy levels, reducing waste, and ensuring inventory records remain accurate across all warehouse and field locations.

Key Duties

The position sits within the Accounts and Inventory department and reports to the Cost Accountant or Inventory Manager. It is a full-time officer-level role based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, within the oil and gas services / manufacturing support environment.

Inventory Control and Records

• Keep stock ledgers current for raw materials, finished goods, spare parts, and consumable items.
• Carry out regular cycle counts and scheduled physical stock checks, then investigate and report any differences quickly.
• Record all stock receipts, issues, and returns immediately in the inventory system, whether manual or ERP-based.
• Ensure items are properly tagged, labelled, and stored in the correct bins according to company warehouse standards.

Stores and Warehouse Operations

• Receive deliveries, confirm the quantity and quality against purchase orders and delivery notes, and refuse items that do not meet requirements.
• Prepare Goods Received Notes (GRNs) and Material Requisition Notes (MRNs) accurately and on time.
• Store inventory securely and neatly in line with HSE requirements, especially where hazardous materials are involved.
• Apply FIFO/FEFO stock rotation to reduce expiry risks and prevent materials from becoming obsolete.

Costing and Procurement Support

• Track reorder thresholds and notify the Cost Accountant and procurement team when replenishment is needed.
• Help compile monthly usage reports, variance analysis, and schedules showing the cost of materials consumed.
• Support job card costing, project material tracking, and closing stock valuation.
• Identify slow-moving, outdated, or excess stock and raise them for management review and disposal decisions.

Documentation and Compliance

• Maintain a full audit trail for every inventory transaction, including approvals and authorisations.
• Follow the company’s inventory handling and loading procedures, along with all ISO-aligned requirements.
• Provide complete inventory schedules and supporting records for internal and external audits.
• Classify and code stock items correctly in line with the company’s chart of accounts.

Qualification and Experience

Candidates should hold an OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in inventory, stores, or warehouse operations within oil and gas, manufacturing, or industrial services is required.

Skills and Tools

The role requires strong accuracy with numbers, attention to detail, and working knowledge of MS Excel, including stock registers, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and reconciliations. Experience with ERP or inventory software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho, or similar tools is needed.

Preferred Experience

Additional advantages include familiarity with the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry Content Development Act (NOGICD), knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 materials handling and HSE practices, exposure to cost or management accounting, and professional certification such as CIPS, CILT, or IIPMN membership.

Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate high integrity, discretion with stock and cost information, strong organisational ability, and the capacity to manage several categories of inventory at once. Clear communication, teamwork, the ability to work under pressure, and physical fitness for warehouse tasks such as stock counting and goods inspection are also important.

Performance Measures

Success in this role will be measured by inventory accuracy of at least 98% on cycle counts, same-day processing of GRNs and MRNs, zero stock-outs caused by delayed escalation, timely submission of monthly inventory reports, and no audit issues arising from missing or incorrect documentation.
